Two men playing backgammon in a drawing room in the evening

For venues

We bring
the boards

You have a room that sits too empty midweek. We have a group that stays three hours.

The best backgammon places in the world are not clubs. They are cafés, bars and kafeneía that happen to have a board lying around. If you run a room in Zürich that sits too empty midweek, it could be one of them.

What we bring

  • Boards and people. We bring the equipment and a group that stays three to five hours and eats and drinks while it does.
  • A quiet meet. Backgammon is not a tournament with a microphone. It is quiet, it looks good, and it fits in any corner.
  • Reach. Every meet is announced, tagged and photographed. Your place is in the post, in the story and on this site.
  • An audience you don't already have. The club is mixed: beginners, expats, people from the neighbourhood, people who would never otherwise spend an meet in a bar.

What we need

  • Tables two people can sit across — that don't wobble.
  • Light you can read a board by.
  • Music quiet enough to hear a double.
  • A corner for three to six hours. That's all.

How it works

We come by once and look at the room. Then we set a date together, we announce it, and the first meet is a trial for both sides. If it fits, we make it regular. If it doesn't, it was a pleasant meet and nobody lost anything.

No contract, no rent, no revenue share. We pay for what we consume, and you get guests on a day when little else is happening.

A board on a table fills a room more reliably than any half-price hour.

Also a good fit for

Roasteries and coffee bars with long meets. Wine bars that are empty before six. Hotels with a lobby nobody uses. Bookshops. Concept stores with a seating corner. Anyone who wants to keep people in the room longer than one drink has, in backgammon, a very simple tool.
